Dargul, City of Spires

A crowded city full of shadowy alleyways, cutpurses, and intrigue. To the south lies the Trackless Mire, to the west the city of Myr, and to the north and east the vast Meadowlands.

Alignment: True Neutral

Atmosphere: Crowded, claustrophobic, bustling, shadowy, mysterious, dangerous, old, sinister, smokey, stinking

Population: about 10,000

Structure: Ancient stone walls. Two entrances, the Sphinx Gate (north) and the Fish Gate (south, now called the Swamp Gate). Many towers. Two large bazaars and a thoroughfare connecting them with the two city gates. The rest of the city is linked by a maze-like series of winding passageways. Most buildings are 3 stories high, often with jettying upper levels that obscure the streets below.

Authority: The city has no ruler. It is controlled by a number of competing interests that keep each other in check. These include merchant guilds, underworld elements, the Eleven, mercenary companies, theocratic sects, etc.

Religion: Dargul has no religious affiliation. There are said to be a thousand shrines in the city. Indeed, there are multitudes of small, forgotten shrines in the winding back alleys, in addition to some larger temples.
